Set-back for rail project
PLANS to re-open the Cranleigh to Guildford
railway line looked doomed this week after a sub-committee made
up borough and county councillors voted to reject the idea.
The Waverley Partner-ship Area Transportation
Sub-Committee recommended that no further work be carried out
on re-opening the line after discussing the findings of a study
into the potential patronage an likely revenue it would generate.
The recommendation will now be passed
on to Surrey County Council's who will make a final decision on
the matter in the autumn.
